ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Top 10 opponents continue to bring out the best in Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers.
Ewers had another great performance on the road on Saturday, throwing for 246 yards and three touchdowns as the Longhorns handily beat No. 10 Michigan, 31-12, at the Big House.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, Ewers is the only FBS quarterback in the nation to throw three touchdowns without an interception against a top-10 AP-ranked team since the start of last season, and he also led Texas to a win over Alabama last season.

“There’s something special about Quinn’s demeanor. Very calm, very collected. He doesn’t go on a roller coaster of emotions,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said. “When you have a quarterback that everybody can trust, it gives you confidence and belief. ‘Come on, let’s do our part. The guy that has the ball every play is in good shape.’
Against the defending national champions, Ewers was once again at his best, and the No. 3-ranked Longhorns moved the ball at will against a defense that features multiple potential first-round NFL draft picks.
Ewers helped the Longhorns score seven of their first eight touchdowns on third down, and he nearly scored another touchdown, but a 24-yard run on the opening drive was voided for holding.
After a missed field goal on its first drive, Texas scored on its next four attempts to take control of the game and lead 24-3 by halftime.
“I’m just enjoying the big moments,” Ewers said.
With the win, Texas took a big step toward returning to the playoffs for the second time in a row after last year’s loss to Washington in the Sugar Bowl semifinals, where Ewers threw for 318 yards in a 37-31 loss.
“I thought he played really efficiently,” Sarkisian said of Michigan’s performance. “He made his passes. I didn’t feel like he forced any throws today.”
The 19-point victory was Texas’ largest road win against a top-10 opponent since 1979, when the Longhorns beat Missouri 21-0. It also marked the Wolverines’ first overall loss since their 2022 College Football Playoff loss to TCU and their first home loss since 2020.
“When we were at Alabama, we were trying to prove what kind of team we were, not just to ourselves but to everybody,” Ewers said. “We’re coming here and getting the job done. … It’s pretty much the same feeling.”
