Zones of Bethpage
Zorn’s of Bethpage has been serving fresh, healthy, handcrafted food to Long Island since 1940. Led by CEO Merrill Zorn-Jensen, the 100% women-owned business employs 68 people and prepares food from scratch daily using original recipes, using only natural ingredients and no preservatives.
As a third-generation family business owner, “my goal is to continue the family tradition and provide the Long Island community with the same quality and tradition that my grandparents did when they started the business 84 years ago,” says Zorn Jensen. “It’s important to me to inspire other women in business by setting an example of respect for employees, customers and the community. Giving back is my greatest joy. Women need to know they can achieve anything they want — just be confident, have faith and learn along the way.”
Zohn Jensen, who has five siblings, sometimes found it hard to get her way while working retail with them because “there were a lot of men in the family.” “But I persevered,” she said.
“Women know they can ask me for advice on what they’re doing. We also support women through our association and other nonprofits that are part of our mission to support women,” said Zorn Jensen, who is a member of several chambers of commerce and business associations on Long Island.
Jensen is especially proud that Zones of Bethpage is maintaining its original building while building its new flagship store. “Our future is firmly rooted in our past and we are committed to continuing our success on Long Island,” he said.
