Sky Testing Civil LLC
Led by President Ines Birbiglia, Skytesting Civil is a specialty inspection and materials testing lab serving Long Island and the New York metropolitan area. The Bohemia-based company is 60% female-run and provides third-party testing for all construction-phase inspections.
Skytesting Civil is three years old and employs 18 people, with an experienced team that includes Birbiglia, who has more than 20 years of experience in project management, construction inspection, and environmental services in both the public and private sectors.
Birbiglia said running a female-owned business allows her to “remind my daughters and sons that women and men can be strong, determined and focused leaders in whatever career they choose, and that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself in business.”
To support women in business and the community, Birbiglia is active with the NY Metro Chapter of Women Construction Owners and Executives. According to Birbiglia, the organization “focuses on legislative reform for women in the construction industry, and also does a lot of philanthropic work for young women, future female engineers, and STEM programs for women in need who are looking to achieve independence through homeownership.”
Skytesting Civil performed inspections and material testing 100% at no cost to them on the new construction of the LT Michael Murphy Navy SEAL Museum in West Sayville. “What a beautiful building and tribute!” said Birbiglia, who considers this one of Skytesting Civil’s most rewarding projects and endeavors.
