For over a century, the world’s most renowned musical talent has gathered in Salzburg during the summer months of July and August to present sensational performances at the Salzburg Festival.
Every year, classical music lovers from all over the world flock to this beautiful Austrian city to see masters and divas perform. Each year, artists come together at this renowned festival to showcase their skills in a wide range of genres, from opera to musicals, classical to contemporary.
Best known as the birthplace of Mozart, Salzburg also boasts a beautiful Baroque Old Town, Mirabell Palace and Gardens – the setting for the classic film “The Sound of Music” starring Julie Andrews – and Europe’s oldest restaurant. These cultural gems, combined with festivals, make the city one of the most historic in the region.
Summer in Salzburg moves at the same tempo as the music festival, which took place this year from 19 July to 31 August. Rolex, through its Perpetual Arts initiative, has been main sponsor of this colourful event since 2012.
For more than half a century, the Rolex Perpetual Arts Initiative has fueled and supported artistic initiatives and events across a wide range of disciplines, including film, dance, literature, theatre and architecture. The Initiative is supported by renowned music and performing arts organisations, including the Royal Opera and Ballet in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
