GREEN BAY, Wis. — Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered what appears to be a sprained MCL during Friday night’s season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paulo and is expected to miss several weeks, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports, citing sources.
Love will undergo further testing to confirm the diagnosis, and the Packers expect the injury to be around three to four weeks, a source said.
MCL injuries usually do not require surgery.
The Packers’ home opener is a week later on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Love was trying to lead the Packers back on their final drive when he was injured with six seconds left in the game. After a 33-yard pass to Jayden Reed put the Packers at their own 49-yard line, Love dropped back to pass on the next play, but ran into two Eagles defenders, defensive tackle Jalen Carter and linebacker Josh Sweat, and appeared to twist his left leg as he fell to the ground just as he was about to throw the ball back to Jacobs behind him.
Malik Willis, who joined the Packers last week in a trade with the Tennessee Titans, played the final two snaps — an incomplete pass and a sack. The only other quarterback under contract with the Packers is Sean Clifford, last year’s reserve who was waived in final cuts last month but re-signed to the practice squad.
Love’s injury came in his first regular-season game since signing a four-year, $220 million contract on July 26. The $55 million annual average was the largest in NFL history, tied with Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow’s contracts. Love played just three snaps in the preseason opener and did not appear in the final two exhibition games.
The Packers arrived in Green Bay just before noon Saturday after a more than 10-hour flight from Brazil.
Local news cameras showed Love exiting the plane and walking down the stairs, leaning over the banister.
Love did not speak to reporters after the game, and the Packers have no media opportunities scheduled for Saturday or Sunday.
