Pharrell Williams has made it clear that he does not want his name to be associated with any political party.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Louis Vuitton men’s creative director and artist admitted that he’s “frustrated” by today’s political climate.
Williams, 51, touted himself to the magazine as “worthy of being a federal employee. I believe in meritorious civil service.”
“I’m more of a humanitarian,” he added. “I like people who try to help people. I don’t know if I’d vote for the far right. I wouldn’t.”

In the chat, Williams stated, “I don’t get involved in politics,” but added, “I actually get annoyed sometimes when I see celebrities trying to tell people (who they should vote for). There are some famous people I respect who have their opinions, but not all of them,” further expressing her disdain for celebrities’ involvement in politics.
The artist did not elaborate on whose opinion he felt was valid.
“I’m one of those people who says, ‘What? Shut up. Nobody’s listening,'” he said of his stance on celebrities publicly stating their political leanings. “When people are getting self-righteous and rolling up their sleeves and saying shit and walking around with signs that say, ‘Shut up!’ I think I’d rather not get in the way and, of course, I’m going to vote the way I vote. I care about my people, I care about the country, but I feel like there’s a lot that needs to be done and I really want to take action.”
Williams’ comments about celebrities taking a political stance come shortly after Taylor Swift publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz in the 2025 presidential election.
“If you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to find out where the candidates stand on the issues at hand and the issues that matter most to you. As a voter, I make it a point to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for our country,” Swift, 34, wrote in an Instagram post shortly after Harris’ debate with former President Donald Trump on Sept. 10.
“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz for President in 2024,” she continued at the time. “I am voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for rights and causes that I believe need warriors to defend them. I think she is a steady and talented leader, and I believe this country can accomplish so much more if it is led with calm instead of chaos. I am so encouraged and impressed that she chose Tim Waltz as her running mate, someone who has stood up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s right to their own bodies for decades.”
