Vietnam Golf Coast (VGC) Club is strengthening community ties in Central Vietnam through civic-minded initiatives.
VGC is a collaborative tourism marketing effort between the region’s three leading golf clubs – Laguna Golf Lang Co, Montgomery Links and Ba Na Hills Golf Club – and has made community engagement a cornerstone of its mission.
These clubs attract golf enthusiasts from all over the world to what has emerged as Asia’s most desirable golfing destination, while at the same time dedicating their resources and efforts to the betterment of the communities in which they operate.
Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts are embodied through various projects that contribute significantly to the welfare of the local community.
A standout initiative under this banner is Green Hope 2024, a life-saving project addressing one of the most pressing issues in Vietnam today: child drowning. Drowning ranks among the top 10 causes of death among children aged 5 to 14 in Vietnam, especially in rural areas where access to swimming education is limited.
Supported by VGC’s Montgomery Lynx, Green Hope 2024 provides free swimming lessons and drowning prevention skills to children in Quang Nam province.
“Our role is more than just providing a world-class golf experience; by equipping children with essential life skills we are investing in the future of our community,” said Le Vo Hoang Van, Club Manager at Montgomerie Links.
Known for its sustainability and CSR programs, Laguna Golf Lang Co also emphasizes its efforts to foster community ties. Its “edible golf course” initiative has won hearts around the world, with the course’s water buffaloes tending the rice paddies. Up to 20 tons of rice are harvested from the paddies, which are used to support Laguna Lang Co’s organic farms and donated to local families and elderly people.
Other key initiatives include free golf lessons in local schools, promoting the game among young people and teaching important values such as discipline, teamwork and respect for others. Taught by the club’s professional instructors, these lessons are provided free of charge and are part of a wider effort to make golf more accessible to young people in Central Vietnam.
“When we introduce golf to local students, we’re not just teaching them a sport, we’re providing them with skills and values that will help them in all areas of life,” said Steven Banks, director of golf at Laguna Golf Lang Co.
Vietnam Golf Coast Club regularly hosts golf fundraising events. These events serve as an important platform to raise funds for local charities and community projects. Funds are used for various causes, including education, healthcare and environmental protection, reinforcing the club’s commitment to giving back to the community.
Vietnam Golf Coast Club also contributes to the local economy through employment. The Club employs a large number of local staff in roles such as caddies, greenkeepers, custodians and hospitality, offering stable jobs with competitive wages and opportunities for professional development.
“Our club has deep ties to the community and we view our employees as essential to our success,” said Gary Dixon, general manager of Bana Hills Golf Club. “By providing meaningful employment, we support local families and contribute to the economic health of the entire region.”
