GILBERT, Ariz. (AZFamily) — One person is dead after a car split in two in Gilbert late Friday afternoon.
Police and fire crews responded to the area of San Tan Village Parkway near Coronado Road on Friday around 3:15 p.m.
Video taken by an Arizona Family News Helicopter showed a vehicle with its rear end cut off parked on a sidewalk not far from the Santa Tan Village outdoor shopping mall.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No other vehicles were involved and no one was injured.
The northbound lanes of SanTan Village Parkway are closed from Coronado Road to Ray Road as detectives investigate.
Police have not yet released any other details.
