The NBA just can’t afford to pay the salaries it used to, at least that’s what it seemed after the two-time MVP was spotted shopping at Target following Greece’s quarterfinal loss at the Paris Olympics this month.
According to Forbes, Giannis Antetokounmpo has a net worth of $111 million. He signed a five-year, $228 million supermax contract with the Bucks in December 2020 and received a three-year extension in October 2023. He also boasts sponsorship deals with Breitling and Nike, as well as a collection of BMW cars and Rolex watches. But on Saturday, the “Greek Monster” proved he’s no cheapskate like the rest of us, according to the Daily Mail.
NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo will make more than $48 million this season, but he clearly appreciates a bargain, as he was spotted in the “low-price” section of a New York City Target on Saturday. The Bucks star, who recently returned from the Paris Olympics, was spotted shopping at the store’s FiDi outlet, and one observer told Mail Sport that the “Greek Monster” will be sure to use his Target points number at checkout.
One way to stay wealthy is to never spend it all, and Antetokounmpo clearly takes that to heart.
The next time he’s running the court, dunking and blocking shots in your hometown, know that you might see the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2020) and NBA Finals MVP (2021) at a Target near you.
