Minot High School 1, Mandan St. Mary’s High School 1 (tie)
Just a few steps ahead of the host Magicians in the standings, the team made a trip to Minot High School. The Mandan St. Mary’s Braves were given a tough test by the local boys. Senior Samuel Echanis threaded a pass to fellow senior Dylan Jackson for the score just three minutes into the game.
The Magicians trailed 1-0 the rest of the first half and continued their strong performance in the second half, when Braves junior Caleb Meidinger took the ball unassisted off a corner kick and scored just 19 minutes into the game, making the score 1-1.
Minot High School was more consistent with the ball, and the Braves goalkeeper made six saves to tie the game, with senior Grayden Waldo keeping the net safe without receiving a shot off the corner kick goal.
The tie gives the Braves sole possession of No. 3 in the WDA standings. Bismarck Century (4-7-0, 4-7-0) will face the Magicians (5-3-2, 7-3-2) today, Sept. 19, at Minot High School.
Bismarck Legacy 5, Minot North 1
Bismarck Legacy, the No. 2 team in the WDA rankings, faced off against one of the stronger schools on Tuesday, September 17th when they hosted the No. 8 team from Minot North who traveled south for a WDA match.
The Sabres scored three points in the first half and two in the second. Sentinels eighth-grader Gavin Wald scored on a pass from sophomore Logan Ovitt with two minutes left in the game, showcasing his team’s “never give up” attitude.
