Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) announced today that it will broadcast 75 Washington Capitals games on its independent media platform during the 2024-25 NHL season. The network’s Capitals coverage will include comprehensive gameday programming, original Capitals-themed programming and robust multi-platform content covering top stories including the team’s 50th anniversary and Alex Ovechkin’s attempt to break the NHL scoring record.
The first game available on Monumental Sports Network will be a preseason match against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, September 22nd at 3pm, which fans can stream for free on monumentalsportsnetwork.com and the Monumental Sports Network app (as well as a game against the Boston Bruins on October 5th). In addition to all six of the team’s preseason games, Monumental Sports Network’s Capitals coverage will include 69 regular season games, beginning with the Capitals’ season opener against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, October 12th at 7pm.
In the days leading up to the season opener, Monumental Sports Network will have live coverage of the Caps 50th Anniversary Kickoff Celebration (Oct. 10) and the Alumni Game (Oct. 11), as well as special pregame coverage featuring player interviews and analysis from 4-7pm prior to the match against New Jersey. Red carpet coverage during the first hour of opening night (4-5pm) will be digital exclusive. The majority of Monumental’s Capitals games will air on MNMT, with 11 games broadcast on newly rebranded overflow station M2.

The Capitals’ broadcast booth for the 2024-25 season will feature Emmy Award-winning play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati and game commentator Craig Laughlin. The fan-favorite duo will be in their 28th consecutive season together, and will be joined by rink-side reporter Al Koken, who will continue to provide exclusive interviews and updates on every Capitals game on MNMT.
Monumental Sports Network will surround Capitals games with live game-day shows, “Capitals Pregame Live” and “Capitals Postgame Live.” Both shows will broadcast live from MNMT’s state-of-the-art studios and provide news, analysis and commentary 30 minutes before the game and an hour after the game. The shows will feature award-winning host Alexa Landestoy and analyst Alan May, with Beninati, Laughlin and Koken contributing coverage. Bruce Boudreau, Brent Johnson, Devante Smith-Pelly and Tarik El-Bashir will appear regularly on the pre- and post-game shows throughout the season.
Monumental Sports Network will offer a variety of Capitals-related programming during the upcoming season. Fans can expect in-depth coverage of the team’s 50th anniversary season, documentary content, and robust Capitals content through MNMT original programming such as Hometown with Rachel Nichols, Caps Red Line and Caps Rink Report. Live game coverage will include the return of MNMT’s alternate broadcasts, providing a fun, relaxed perspective on the game, as well as the ability to watch games from multiple camera angles simultaneously on the MNMT app.
Live Capitals games on Monumental Sports Network will be available to local fans on both linear TV and streaming platforms within the network’s broadcast area, which stretches from Richmond to Delaware. Capitals fans can watch games using their eligible TV Everywhere login through their TV provider, monumentalsportsnetwork.com or by downloading the Monumental streaming app on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

The Capitals Radio Network will carry live audio of every game this season. 106.7 The Fan, one of the region’s most heavily-reported radio stations, will again serve as the flagship station, while WFED 1500 AM and Caps Radio 24/7, the team’s 24-hour streaming audio channel, will continue as the AM and online homes, respectively, of the Capitals Radio Network. The Capitals Radio Network will include 14 different stations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. Play-by-play announcer John Walton returns for his 14th season and former Capitals player Ken Sabourin will enter his 22nd year as an analyst.
The Capitals Radio Network broadcast will include 15 minutes of pre-game coverage and 30 minutes of post-game coverage, highlighted by player interviews and live audio from Coach Spencer Carberry’s post-game press conference. The pre-game and post-game shows will be hosted by Katie Florio.
