A few days after a spectacular clash with President Donald Trump in his oval office, Ukrainian President Voldy Zelensky today emphasized that he “want to make things right” with Trump, and that he would like to work under “strong leadership” to ensure lasting peace in Ukraine.
“Our meeting in Washington on Friday at the White House wasn’t the way it was. It’s a shame that it happened in this way. It’s time to get things right. I hope that future cooperation and communication will be constructive.”
Russia said the suspension of US Ukraine aid was the “best contribution” to peace, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov added that it was “a solution that could really push the Kiev regime into the peace process.”
The disruption in the flow of US arms to the forefront will quickly undermine Ukraine’s chances of defeating Russian invasions.
“None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiation table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. No one wants peace as the Ukrainians.
US and Russian officials fought for ending the war and infuriating Kiev and Europe, prompting fears that it could threaten Ukraine’s future.
“We are ready to work quickly to end the war, and the first stage could be prisoner release and a ceasefire in the air — missiles, long-range drones, energy bombs, other civilian infrastructure bombs — and if Russia does the same, we’ll have a ceasefire in the ocean right away, Zelensky said.
Zelensky once again highlighted his support for maintaining US independence.
“We really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence, and we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump offered javelins to Ukraine.
He also said that Kiev is ready to sign a contract with “anytime, in any convenient form” that US preferential access to Ukraine’s natural resources and minerals.
The deal was to be inked in Washington last week after Zelensky’s public line with Trump before being kicked out of the White House.
