The suspect’s drone struck a protective shell covering Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear power plant early on Friday, with Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky pointing to Russia.
The International Atomic Energy Agency reported overnight on Thursday at X, the IAEA team at the Chornobyl site heard an explosion from the new safe confinement.
The site protected the ruins of a nuclear reactor that exploded in Chernobyl in 1986, and reportedly burned after an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck the NSC roof. Zelenskyy said the initial assessment showed that “damage to the shelter is important.”
Zelenskyy took X to X, who said it was said that “a Russian attack drone with an explosive warhead struck the shelter.”

Surveillance footage from his post shows the moment when the drone affects the dome and causes an explosion.
“The Chernobyl NPP shelter was damaged by this drone. The fire has disappeared. Currently, radiation levels have not increased and are constantly being monitored,” added Zelenskyy. “According to the initial assessment, damage to the shelter is important.”
Putin saw him as a “great competitor,” but he was still seen as an “enemy” as Ukrainian negotiations loomed, Levitt said.

The incident is currently under investigation, but Zelensky claimed that the alleged attack was the result of a terrorist threat.
“This shelter was built by Ukraine together with Europe and other countries around the world, along with America. All people are working on the true safety of humanity,” Zelensky wrote in his post. I mentioned it in. “Without attacking such places, occupying nuclear power plants and attacking wage wars, the only country in the world is Russia today. This is a terrorist threat to the whole world. Drones.”

The IAEA said fire safety personnel could respond in minutes and there were no indications of violations in the internal containment of the NSC.
The agency also reported that there are no victims at this time, but is monitoring the internal and external conditions and radiation levels.
