MIAMI LAKES, Fla., Aug. 15, 2024 (BUSINESS WIRE) –Women business owners who dream of growing their small business have the chance to win $15,000 in prize money by entering BankUnited’s “Small Business, Big Dreams: Women in Business Challenge,” which culminates with an annual gathering of female business leaders, executives and aspiring entrepreneurs on Tuesday, October 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale West Hotel in Plantation.
Taking place during National Women’s Small Business Month in October, the Small Business, Dream Big Summit will feature a morning of inspiring talks, tips and networking opportunities, followed by a live pitch event featuring finalists from the Small Business Challenge.

Sim will moderate a panel discussion featuring Jermaine Smith Baugh, president and CEO of the Urban League of Broward County, restaurateur Daniel Rosse, Francy Rueda, Senior Loan Program Manager at Miami Bayside Foundation and Sydney Hughes, winner of last year’s Small Business, Big Dreams Challenge and founder and CEO of Senior Proof.

The summit is the culmination of the currently open Small Business, Big Dreams Challenge, which encourages women small business owners to submit an application that includes a three-minute video presentation explaining how the $15,000 grand prize would benefit their company. Ten semi-finalists will be selected and given the opportunity to present in front of a panel of judges at a live event in October. Cash prizes will be awarded to the grand prize winner ($15,000), runner-up ($5,000), and third place ($2,500).
