An Australian woman had to be rescued after being literally trapped between a rock and a hard place… for seven hours… upside down.
The woman was walking with a friend in the Hunter Valley area when she dropped her phone, according to a Facebook post from Australia’s first response team, New South Wales (NSW Ambulance).
The woman tried to retrieve her phone, but it slipped face-first into a narrow gap between two rocks. Images posted by NSW Ambulance show only her legs were visible after she was trapped.
Officials said her friends tried to free her for about an hour before calling emergency services.
Rescuers spent the next few hours moving a large, heavy rock that almost reached her feet. The team also had to navigate an “S”-shaped bend in the rock crevice to rescue her.
Officials said he was left with only minor scrapes and bruises after he was finally released.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t pick up the phone.
NSW Ambulance’s Peter Watts said in a social media post: “In my 10 years as a paramedic, I have never encountered a job like this. It was difficult, but it was incredible. It was the most rewarding job I’ve ever had,” he said in a social media post.
