German police in the eastern city of Jella are investigating an attempted murder case after a man absorbed a woman on a streetcar with flammable liquid on Sunday morning, then got off, causing life-threatening injuries.
Police in the state of Thurinosis, where Jela is located, say the suspected attacker is believed to be the woman’s 46-year-old husband.
A police spokesperson said the 46-year-old woman flew to the hospital by helicopter after the attack.
An investigation was underway, she said.
No other person was injured in the attack that occurred around 10am local time (0900 UTC).

According to a spokeswoman, other passengers on the tram pressed the emergency stop button after the attack.
The driver of the vehicle responded quickly and began to blow flames with the fire extinguisher, she said.
The woman was treated on site before being taken to the hospital, a spokesperson said.
She said other passengers and drivers were provided with psychological care.
Gela is located east of the Thuringi family in eastern Germany, about 60 km (37 miles) south of Leipzig.
