A woman was found murdered inside a luxury spa and resort in the Hamptons, police said Monday.
According to Suffolk County Police, the unidentified woman’s body was discovered by staff inside a guest room at the Sho Cedar Van House in Water Mill around 12:30 p.m.
Investigators responded to a “suspicious death” and quickly determined that she was a “victim of violence.”
Police did not provide details about the victim’s injuries or cause of death, and said the county medical examiner would conduct an autopsy to determine how he was killed.
The body was discovered in one of 13 private guest studios at the luxury resort at 337 Montauk Highway.
The Sho Cedar Bun House describes itself as a “private gated sanctuary surrounded by evergreens and lush grass” on more than five acres. Its grounds include 13 “destination getaways and luxury spas, as well as separate luxury residences for short-term rentals.”
The 400-square-foot studios feature king- or queen-sized beds, “luxury bathtubs,” modern gas fireplaces and private garden patios, according to the resort’s website. Accommodates up to 2 people.
The average rate for a studio is $1,000 per night, and the resort’s “signature romance package” for couples is $1,250 per night. Additional spa and wellness treatments and on-site dining options are also available.
The resort’s website describes it as a “space inspired by the principles of the wabi-sabi and wellness traditions, which celebrate the simple beauty and healing properties of the natural world.”
