Mumbai:
Bhajan Singh Rana, the car driver who took Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan to the hospital early Thursday morning, said a woman ran towards him shouting “loko, loko, loko” (stop, stop, stop). It is said that
The actor, 54, was stabbed repeatedly in an apparent robbery at his home in Mumbai, according to his public relations team.
“I went via Linkin Road. The building where he (Saif Ali Khan) lives is called Satguru Niwas. A woman was saying rickshaw, rickshaw, rickshaw, loko, loko, loko (stop! , stop, stop!” and asked her to stop the car near the building gate,” Rana told NDTV.
The driver of the car did not know that the injured person he was taking to the hospital was Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan.
“I didn’t know he was Saif Ali Khan. It was an emergency. Even I was nervous, wondering who the passenger was going to be in my car. I didn’t want to get into trouble. That’s why I was so nervous,” Lana said.
“He (Saif) was wearing a white shirt with blood on it. A child was sitting next to him and a young man was also sitting with him,” the auto driver said while narrating the sequence of events.
The driver said that when he asked whether he should drive to Holy Family Hospital or Lilavati Hospital, he replied, “Please take me to Lilavati Hospital.”
Upon arrival at the hospital, security was called and hospital staff assembled, the driver said, adding that the passenger then introduced himself as “I’m Saif Ali Khan.”
That’s when the auto driver realized that the passenger in his car was Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan.
Doctors at Lilavati Hospital, where he was rushed after the incident at his home, said the actor was “out of danger” after undergoing emergency surgery.
When asked if Saif’s wife Kareena Kapoor was present when Saif was taken to the hospital, the driver replied, “I didn’t notice.”
Khan is the son of former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Bollywood actor Sharmila Tagore.
