What is weather?
World Weather Day 2025
Today is World Weather Day! Every March 23rd, meteorologists and weather enthusiasts have led to the establishment of a global meteorological organization to commemorate the arrival of the 1950 conference.
The day also highlights the contribution of National Weather and Hydrological Services to the safety and well-being of society. But what does meteorology mean? The weather words are derived from Greek meteor, It was used by Aristotle in 340 BC. At the time, meteorology mentioned all sorts of phenomena in the sky. Includes shooting stars.
Today, meteorology includes scientific research on the atmosphere, with a major focus on weather and climate. Within the weather, scientists, researchers, and meteorologists aim to understand the complex interactions between the physical and chemical properties of the atmosphere and the Earth.
Meteorologists collect and analyze atmospheric data to determine short-term weather trends and forecasts. We also use our data to see how climate has changed in the past and how it will change in the future. It’s simple isn’t it?
