The Washington mayor exploded on LGBTQ activists in the public comments section of Tuesday’s City Council meeting after explaining that a city flying prisoner/missing flags as “political stunts” went missing as “political stunts.”
The exchange took place near the end of a Newcastle City Council meeting between Mayor Robert Clark and a woman named Jen. Newcastle is a suburb of Seattle.
Jen was the first person to talk to after Clark opened the floor for public comments. She said she hopes the mayor will support the Pride flag “in this year’s declaration” because she has “a new appreciation” for flags other than the American flag.

She was referring to a vote from the city council last year. During Pride Month, I took pride and stopped raising the flag at City Hall. At the time, Clark told his local outlet como that if the Pride flag was about to fly, everyone’s flags must be blown.
“Do you want a Hamas flag flying over the city of Newcastle? Or a Maga flag? What about Trump flags and Antifa flags? “Everyone is represented by the American flag as well.”
Jen said she considers the Pau/Meer flag “100 days a year a political stunt” while she “feels so much for veterans, prisoners and Miass.”
Jen then began comparing the population of American prisoners or MIAs to the number of Americans who fall into the LGBTQ community.
“My investigation shows that there were 82,000 Americans registered as prisoners or MIAs, and there are at least 20 million LGBTQ members, which should never happen to Americans,” she said.

She then accused council members of a hypocritical, fulfilling and special interest by choosing to fly the Pow/Mia flag above the city hall rather than the flag of pride.
“I really hate your approach to trying to fool people out of having to fly a Pride flag in June by making sure the Pow/Mia flag really hates. Again, that’s never fair.
Her comments sparked under the mayor, but he said he generally wouldn’t respond to public comments, but he said “sit down here and let veterans say they’re political stunts.”
When Clark fought back against the women, some of the audience could hear applause, adding, “How do you dare?”

“This country was established because veterans lost their lives. Hundreds of thousands of people die in this country and they can fly their pride flags,” Clark said while looking in her direction.
He apologised for being “offended” and “out of line”, but warned that he would “never par off the veterans in my presence.”
“The 82,000 people who have never returned home will never have the opportunity to have a family or grow up while you can fly your pride flag,” he said. “They sacrificed their lives all over the world for freedom in America and around the world.”

The mayor appears to know Jen’s opinion and said he will “tolerate” her comments despite being “attacked” and “honored.”
“I tolerate that because you probably can’t help yourself, but don’t dippared the veteran in front of my eyes,” he said that someone in the audience could listen as they tried to talk to him.
“Don’t pat down the veteran right in front of you,” Clark repeated.
“And we’re done,” he said before opening the floor to the next speaker.
