Do you want the Minnesota Vikings to run away and get rich again?
Vikings mention Unholy Good as 2025 rookie transfer destination
According to one prominent draft analyst, the Purple Team could do just that as a reasonable destination for Boise State running back Ashton Giunty.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper wrote earlier this week, “The Browns have bigger problems, but Giunty might also be a good fit.” Nick Chubb will be a free agent with a broken foot. What about the saints? They signed Alvin Kamara, but their offense needs more playmakers. Perhaps the Bears will take on Giunty to help Caleb Williams. I also think if Giunty slides a bit, the Vikings and Steelers could move him. They currently hold Aaron Jones and Najee Harris as free agents at RB1, respectively. ”
The Vikings would have to be pretty creative to draft Giunty. There are two reasons for that: a) Giunty likely won’t make it past the first 15 picks on draft night, and b) Minnesota is certain to pick No. 20.
It’s also worth noting that NFL teams trading boards with running backs is usually frowned upon by everyone. In fact, draft steals at running back are typically seen late in the draft. The days of selecting a running back in the first round have diminished for the most part.
But all in all, if Minnesota can make Kiper’s theory a reality, no one in the Vikings fan community would be upset about Giunty being on the roster in 2025. He’s that dynamic. He has 2,601 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns for the Broncos (college version) this season, making him one of the draft’s hottest prospects accordingly.
Additionally, Minnesota will need a running back. Ty Chandler is the only halfback scheduled to be on the 2025 roster, as Aaron Jones and Cam Akers are set to become free agents in two and a half months. Of course, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah could re-sign Jones and Akers with some ease, but initially there is room on the running back shelf for roster construction in 2025.
Pro Football Network’s Ian Cummings summed up Giunty’s strengths and weaknesses last month: Simply put, Giunty is a complete three-down volume back with disruptive creativity that will give defenses nightmares for years to come. ”
The Vikings haven’t drafted a running back in the first round since Adrian Peterson in 2007.
