STOCKTON — A family-owned store in Stockton is repairing damage after a vehicle crashed into the business and a suspect stole an ATM.
The robbery happened late Saturday night and early in the morning when three vehicles were parked in the parking lot of the Circle K on Country Club Road. The store is open 24 hours a day, so it’s normal for cars to enter the parking lot at any time, but around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, five suspects targeted the ATM inside the store.
One of the vehicles crashed into a Circle K, shattering a glass door and sending it flying into the middle of the mini-mart, ripping out electrical wires and the ATM itself.
The driver of the vehicle drives back from the store, and surveillance camera footage shows at least three suspects lifting the ATM off the ground and carrying it to a second vehicle waiting in the parking lot.
Store owner Nick Singh told CBS13 the incident lasted 60 seconds but damages will be at least $50,000.
“We have worked so hard to make our business thrive and survive in these circumstances and it was heartbreaking to walk into our store and see our baby so destroyed,” Singh said.

Stockton police said the vehicle that crashed into the store was abandoned at the scene and later returned to its owner. The owner, who said the vehicle was stolen from Oakland, spoke to CBS13 about the aftermath of the robbery.
She told CBS 13 she saw Singh’s post about security camera footage of the robbery going viral and the car looked familiar. She reached out to Singh for more information. She said the car had been significantly damaged since it was returned.
“It’s very disappointing. We’re a small business. We’re a family run shop. My family works here. I work here,” Singh said.
CBS13 was on hand at the Stockton store Monday night to install replacement doors, which Singh said is the first step in getting the store back to how it was before the damage.
He said he’s not only received support from local residents for the cleanup efforts, but also from customers who stop by to help out.
