Officials said footage showed flames coming from underneath the Frontier plane that made a hard landing in Las Vegas on Saturday after reports of smoke in the cockpit.
Frontier Airlines said in a statement that Flight 1326 was en route from San Diego to Las Vegas when “the pilot detected smoke and declared a state of emergency.”
The Federal Aviation Administration said there were reports of smoke in the cockpit of an Airbus 321 plane before it made an emergency landing at Harry Reid International Airport.
The airport was the destination of the plane.
Harry Reid Airport Program Manager Amanda Mazzagatti said the flight had a “hard landing” and the Clark County Fire Department immediately responded.
The plane landed safely and all passengers and crew were evacuated using the stairs. After that, we took a bus to the terminal.
No injuries were reported, according to the airline and airport.
The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. local time. A ground stop was in place at the airport until 7 p.m. Saturday, the FAA said.
Video of the incident posted on social media shows the plane rolling on the runway with flames and smoke appearing to come from the bottom of the plane near its wheels. A trail of thick smoke follows behind.
Video footage showed a fire truck approaching as the plane came to a stop and spraying the area to put out the fire.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. The FAA is investigating.
