Here’s what we know so far about the victim:
Annette Rossilli
Annette Rossilli, 85, died at her home in Pacific Palisades after insisting on staying, according to CNN.
A caregiver offered to pick Rossili up, but Rossilli refused. Her body was later found inside the car, according to CNN. Rossili has a daughter and a son.
anthony and justin mitchell
Anthony Mitchell, a 67-year-old amputee, and his son Justin, who has cerebral palsy, died in the Altadena fire.
Mitchell’s daughter, Hajime White; told the Associated Press The two were reportedly waiting for an ambulance to come pick them up.
“They didn’t work out,” she told The Associated Press.
White said authorities told her Mitchell was found next to her son’s bed, according to the Associated Press.
Arthur Simoneau
The Sylmar Hang Glider Association announced in a Facebook post that 69-year-old hang glider pilot Arthur Simoneau died while trying to save his home.
A longtime friend of Simoneau’s told the Los Angeles Times that Simoneau learned of the evacuation order while returning from a ski trip, but Simoneau went home anyway.
Darris Curry
Darris Curry, 95, died at home as her family was unsure whether she was alive or dead, a family member said on Facebook.
Her granddaughter, Darice Kelly, told ABC 7 that she dropped Curry off at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 7, but she didn’t expect the fire to get this big. Curry returned to her grandmother’s house the next morning, ABC 7 reported. However, a nearby police officer told him that his house was completely burnt down.
charlie mortimer
Charlie Mortimer, 84, died of a heart attack at a hospital after suffering burns from smoke inhalation from the fire, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said.
His daughter Meredith Mortimer told CBS News that her father “truly lived life to the fullest.”
“He was a world traveler, a sun worshiper and an avid sports fan,” she said. “He will be remembered as a man with a quick wit, a brilliant mind, and a love for his family. His contagious smile and undying sense of humor were shared by friends and family around the world. He will be greatly missed by his family.”
evelyn mcclendon
Evelyn McClendon died in her home in the Eaton Fire.
Her younger brother, Zaire Calvin, was evacuating his baby and elderly mother when he became separated from his sister, who lived next door.
“Everyone’s screaming ‘Get out!’ I think she’s going to get out.” Calvin told 60 Minutes. “And the day after the storm, I came back and her car was still there. So at that point, my soul is shaking in my head.”
He and his cousin found McClendon’s body in the rubble.
Randall Miodo
Randall Miodo, 55, died at his home in Malibu.
Miodo’s friend John Hughes told CBS News that he last spoke to Miodo over FaceTime on Wednesday. Miodo said he was going to the kitchen to rescue the cat and that the last words they said to each other were “I love you, brother.”
Miodo was later seen by others holding a hose in his home.
Hughes said Miodo is currently not employed due to health issues, but “works at all restaurants up and down PCH.” Hughes described Randall as “the king of Malibu” and a “community icon.”
rodney nickerson
Rodney Nickerson, 82, died in his bed in the Eaton fire.
His daughter, Kimiko Nickerson, told CBS Los Angeles He said he wanted to live in his longtime home in Altadena, which he bought in 1968 for $5.
“The last thing he said to me verbally was, ‘I’ll be here tomorrow,'” she said. “My son, the neighbors and I tried to leave, but he said he was fine…”
Rory Sykes
32-year-old former child actor Rory Sykes’ mother dies in Palisades fire sherry sykesThe TV production entrepreneur said on social media:
Sykes appeared on the 1990s British television show Kiddie Capers.
Sykes said she tried to save her son, who she claimed was at home. Sykes said on social media that she lives with her son on a 17-acre property in Malibu. He was blind due to cerebral palsy and had difficulty walking.
victor shaw
Victor Shaw, 66, died in the Eaton fire and was found holding a hose after a fire broke out in his neighbourhood. His sister Shari Shaw told CBS News She said she thinks he was trying to put out the fire.
“He wasn’t in the best of health, but I know he probably fought as hard as he could,” she said.
“I miss talking to him, joking with him, traveling with him, I miss him to death,” she said. “I really hate that he had to go out like that.”
