Here’s how to participate in the USPS Operation Santa Letter Submission and Recruitment Program.
Here are some thoughtful ways to give back this holiday season.
At Hip2Save, we love sharing all the latest deals with you, and we’re so grateful to be able to help make vacations more affordable for families across the country. Unfortunately, there are still many families in need who are struggling during this time while trying to give their loved ones a memorable holiday season.
Luckily, the USPS is running its Operation Santa program again this year, and it’s the perfect opportunity to help others and give back. Pre-registration for the event has just opened and from November 18th you will be able to “adopt” a letter to help another family.
What is Operation Santa?
Every year, the USPS receives tons of letters filled with hope for Santa. Instead of throwing out these heartfelt letters, the USPS decided to respond, and this effort became known as Operation Santa.
USPS collects letters and holiday wish lists from families across the country. Once the letter is accepted and the writer’s personal information is removed, it will be put up for “adoption” to people across the United States. Adopters can purchase items on their wish list and have them delivered to their families with a little assistance from USPS.
This is a safe way to spread some holiday joy and help other families have the best vacation possible.
If you would like to participate in this year’s Operation Santa program, you will be allowed to adopt up to 15 letters starting November 18th. In the meantime, you can create an account, verify your ID, and register to participate.
Visit the USPS Operation Santa website and click on “Adopt a Letter.” If you have not yet done so, please select “Registration & ID Authentication”. Please note that even if you have participated in the past, you must renew your registration every year. Pre-registration will begin on November 4th. Create an account and confirm your ID and password. If you can’t verify your ID online, you can use our label broker service to visit one of our 19,000 participating post offices. If approved, you will receive an email with detailed information on how to participate and how to adopt your letter and get the most out of the program. You can start recruiting characters now.
Businesses are also welcome to participate in the USPS Operation Santa program, but all participants must go through a verification process.
