Biden called on the Pentagon to continue the surge in arms deliveries to Ukraine.
Washington:
President Joe Biden said Wednesday he has asked the U.S. Department of Defense to continue a surge in arms deliveries to Ukraine after condemning Russia’s Christmas attacks on some Ukrainian cities and energy systems.
“The goal of this egregious attack was to cut off access to winter heat and electricity for the Ukrainian people and to jeopardize the security of our power grid,” Biden said in a statement. Republican President-elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated on January 20th, replacing Democrat Biden.
Ukraine said Russia attacked Ukraine’s energy systems and some cities on Wednesday with cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as drones. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the US government has pledged $175 billion in aid to Ukraine.
