After the US agrees to accept the Trump administration’s proposal for a 30-day interim ceasefire with Russia, it will immediately lift the information sharing and resume suspension that will provide security assistance to Ukraine.
According to a joint statement issued Tuesday after a meeting in Saudi Arabia, “Ukraine has expressed its preparation for accepting the US proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire that can be extended by mutual agreement between the parties.
“The US will tell Russia that Russian mutual relations are key to achieving peace,” the statement added.
The Kremlin did not immediately comment.
The future of US support for Kyiv has been seriously suspected since the extraordinary camera spat between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the oval office on February 28th.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has announced a series of policies that have evoked a more cooperative attitude towards Russia, which was traditionally considered a key geopolitical enemy of the West. Trump falsely accused Ukraine of starting a war, calling him Zelensky rather than Vladimir Putin.
Trump briefly took on announcing the 30-day ceasefire outside the White House on Tuesday, telling reporters: When asked if Zelenskyy would be invited to the White House, Trump replied, “That’s certainly true, absolutely.”
Zelenskyy welcomed the proposal for a ceasefire as a “positive step,” saying that Ukraine “want to do everything to achieve peace as quickly as possible and ensure that the war does not return,” saying in his evening speech to the country.
In a joint statement on Tuesday, the US and Ukrainian delegations said Trump and Zelensky “a agreement designed to develop Ukraine’s important mineral resources, an agreement designed to “expand” Ukraine’s economy and ensure Ukraine’s long-term prosperity and security” and “contracts have been agreed to conclude as soon as possible.”
Mineral trade was suspended after Trump Zelensky’s collision.
“The delegation also discussed the importance of humanitarian relief efforts during the ceasefire mentioned above, as part of the peace process.
The announcement comes hours after Russia said it had shot down more than 330 Ukrainian drones. Two people were killed and 18 were injured in the attack. This has been the biggest attack by Russian authorities on Moscow and its surrounding areas since Putin launched a full-scale invasion in 2022.
Kyiv said its goals include oil production and pipeline control facilities.
The talks in Saudi Arabia were pinned by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andri Sibiha, Ukrainian Defence Minister Rastem Umerov and Zelensky’s chief of presidential office.
“Delegates from both countries praised the courage of the Ukrainians in defending their country and agreed that now is the time to begin the process of peace,” the joint statement said.
“The Ukrainian delegation reiterated the strong appreciation of the Ukrainian people to President Trump, the US Congress and the people of America for making meaningful progress towards peace,” the statement added.
At one point in the Tuesday speech in the coastal city of Jeddah, the journalists were guided for a briefing with Rubio and Waltz.
The Kyiv delegation has promised a press conference, but reduced it to briefings with only Ukrainian journalists, highlighting the difficult nature of the discussion.
