CLEVELAND, Ohio – Children’s hospitals in Columbus and Cincinnati were named among the top 10 in the nation and tied for No. 1 in Ohio in the new U.S. News & World Report Top Children’s Hospital rankings released Tuesday.
Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital and California State University Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital tied for third place in Ohio, followed by Akron Children’s Hospital in fifth place in the 2024-2025 Best Children’s Hospital rankings.
In Ohio, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus were ranked highest, but the National Honor Roll of the 10 hospitals that include them does not list rankings, only an alphabetical list. It was. They were the only two Ohio hospitals on the prestigious list.
The Best Children’s Hospitals rankings are designed to help parents and doctors find the best care for seriously ill children among U.S. hospitals.

For the 2024-2025 rankings, U.S. News partnered with North Carolina-based research and consulting firm RTI International to collect and analyze data from 108 children’s hospitals and survey thousands of pediatric specialists. We conducted a survey.
The children’s hospital was awarded the “Best” designation for excellence in categories including clinical outcomes, adherence to established best practices, and the level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care, according to U.S. News.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Ranks Top in Pediatric Specialties
U.S. News also evaluated U.S. hospitals in 11 pediatric specialties, including neonatology, orthopedics, and urology. The top five hospitals in the selected specialty are highlighted.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital ranked No. 1 on the list of top five children’s cancer hospitals in the United States. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital/Kentucky Children’s Hospital Joint Cardiac Program ranked No. 5 in pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital ranked third in pediatric neurology and neurosurgery and third in pediatric orthopedics.
The list of top five hospitals in the selected specialty did not include any other health systems in Ohio.
This year’s Best Children’s Hospitals debuts an evaluation of a new specialty: behavioral health.
Akron Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital and California State University Rainbow and Children’s Hospital are ranked among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for child and adolescent behavioral health.
