A team of University of Alabama students gained from a signature learning experience from across campus and won the first management-sponsored Case Competition World Cup.
Over 200 teams applied for the competition, with 50 teams competing for their early faculty issues.
The team was given a week to develop an industry-specific expansion strategy for Amazon Web Services. The team’s solutions highlighted opportunities for the healthcare sector in cloud-based data security services.
The UA team was one of five finalists to present to the panel of judges of top consulting companies. Feedback included the ability to clearly communicate complex ideas and how they answered questions directly and persuasively during the question and answer period.
Looking back at the judge’s questions regarding strategies that took place in the proposed market, Kelby Olson said, “As a team, we worked so hard to prepare our deliverables on a close-knit timeline.”
“It was important to share the thought process and connect the answers to the research we did. I’m proud that the judges saw critical thinking, creativity and discipline.”
