Donald Trump may be “intending to put pressure on Ukraine” to “deliver on what he promised the bases”, a former special assistant to the commander of US forces in Europe told Sky News tonight.
Mark Voyager said Trump is “definitely an isolationist” and intends to focus on America’s domestic challenges.
“In my opinion, the president will be prepared to put pressure on Ukraine, not to bring about justice or the restoration of Ukrainian sovereignty or punishing Russian aggression, but rather peace for its own sake.” Ta.
“This way he can deliver what he promised to the base.
“This means that in January we might expect President Trump to try to offer a deal that will only happen if he puts enough pressure on Ukraine by threatening to withhold critical aid. .
“I don’t think he has the influence to influence President Vladimir Putin’s actions or influence Russia.”
Voyager added: “There is no reason for President Putin to negotiate in good faith.”
“As we know, it will be detrimental to the future of Ukraine,” he said.
