This smart shower rod hack and this DIY craft using dried oranges are two Christmas garland ideas you’ll want to copy this season.
Let’s talk about beautiful Christmas garland decorations!
I was busy decorating the hall and preparing for a fun holiday. Now that Christmas decorations are in full swing, I wanted to share some easy DIYs that I’ve had success with. Maybe you’ll come up with some fun and easy DIY ideas for your home.
I tried out a popular decoration hack that uses tension rods to hang garland at the entrance!
oh. I love how this turned out! What a fun and easy way to hang Christmas garland! I ran into some issues along the way with this project, but I hope you can use my tips to avoid the same issues I encountered.
This method of using curtains or shower curtain rods has definitely been popular on my social media feeds this year, and I was so excited to be on board with this trend.
My top tip for this is to use a strong tension bar.
At first I bought a thin one, but it kept falling off due to the weight of the garland. The doorway here is narrow so a shower curtain rod was out of the question. I almost gave up, but decided to search online for a better solution.
This powerful tension rod from Amazon made a huge difference. It has a weight capacity of 30 pounds and is extremely sturdy and sturdy. Highly recommended as it can be used every year to make holiday garlands.
I will show you how to assemble a hanging garland.
First, set up the pole at a height that allows you to display it while standing. I used two garlands and twisted them a few times on the tension rod. Notice that the left side is initially higher and then the right side is slightly lower. I secured the garland to the rod in several places with zip ties to keep it from slipping.
Then I grabbed some of my favorite orange and berry picks and used stocking hangers to hang some cute decorative bells and velvet ribbons. Since this is the theme this year, I also added some Nutcracker ornaments. The final step is to get on the ladder and lift the rod with the garland up to near the ceiling.
The results were amazing!
Here is a list of things I used to make this entryway Christmas garland.
Watch this garland come to life! 😍
For another DIY decorating idea, check out this cute dried orange garland I made last year.
I loved making this garland because it was a fun and easy craft. Jute and wood beads make a rustic and simple decoration that can be used on a mantle, on a door, or on a Christmas tree. I incorporated it into the mantle along with other green garlands and reindeer decorations.
If you want to try it out, here are the steps.
Christmas garland of dried orange slices
1
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Slice the orange into approximately 1/8-inch thin slices.
2
Place the oranges in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for about 3 hours until dry. Flip the slices halfway through baking. Cool completely.
3
Use a wooden skewer to poke several holes in the orange. Thread the twine through the orange holes and place a wooden bead between each orange.
I love this dried orange project because it’s cheap and fun! Let me know if you’ve tried any fun Christmas decoration DIY projects lately.
