President Zelenskiy said in a Telegram post that two North Korean soldiers were injured and were receiving “the necessary medical assistance.” The men are being held at the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kiev.
In another telegram post, the SBU said the prisoners were “irrefutable evidence of North Korea’s participation in Russia’s war against our country.”
“The prisoners do not speak Ukrainian, English or Russian, so communication with them is carried out through Korean interpreters in cooperation with South Korean authorities,” the SBU said.
Zelenskyy said in his post that capturing North Korean troops is not an easy operation. “The mission was not easy. Typically, the Russians and other North Korean soldiers dealt the final blow to the wounded and did everything in their power to ensure that there was no evidence of other countries’ participation in the war with Ukraine. We will take action,” he said.
