Florida police announced Friday that two women have been arrested in connection with the murder of a photographer, which was partially livestreamed on social media.
Lakeveer Davona Pringle, 31, and Sabon Chantay Tyler, 35, were shot to death by photographer Lauren Ashley Martin after an argument outside her home in Sanford on Tuesday night. He was detained and charged with the death of.
Sanford police said there was an ongoing feud between Martin and Tyler. On the night of the shooting, Martin allegedly livestreamed himself heading to Tyler’s home to confront him, according to Tyler’s amended arrest report.
According to the report, Tyler told investigators that he left the home with the child’s baseball bat and a firearm after watching Martin’s live stream. Before Martin pulled up to Tyler’s home, she put the gun aside, the report said.
During the fight, Tyler allegedly hit Martin with a bat, and Martin grabbed the bat and took it away, according to the arrest report. Martin then approached Tyler with a baseball bat, police said. Tyler said he picked up a gun and fired two shots at Martin.
Police said Martin, 34, was found lying on the road suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Martin’s family told NBC affiliate WESH in Daytona Beach that she is a photographer and there was a disagreement over a photo Martin took of Tyler.
“A family is grieving the death of a loved one because someone chose to resolve a disagreement with violence,” Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said in a statement. “While we will never remember what started the argument between the two, Lauren’s loss will forever be felt by her family and friends. There are options other than violence.”
Pringle, Tyler’s girlfriend, reportedly livestreamed the fight on social media. Police say the video shows Tyler swinging the bat at Martin. Outdoor lighting conditions will darken the video, but the audio will remain clear.
According to the arrest report, police said Pringle can be heard on the video “tempting” Tyler to “beat” Martin and “shoot the gun.” One gunshot can be heard in the video, followed by a second gunshot.
Tyler was taken into custody without incident and charged with first-degree premeditated murder. Court documents state she has pleaded not guilty. Her attorney could not be reached for comment Saturday.
Pringle turned himself in Friday and was charged by the principal with first-degree premeditated murder, police said. It is unclear whether she has hired a lawyer or filed a plea.
