Donald Trump says he has spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping since returning to the White House on January 20th.
The US President commented in an interview aired tonight on Fox News.
“Yeah… I spoke to him, and I spoke to his people too,” Trump said, speaking to Chinese leaders during his second term as president. I said this when I asked him if he was.
“We have a very good personal relationship,” Trump added.
The President did not provide details of exactly when the phone ran out or what was discussed.
Last week, Trump said he was not in a hurry to speak to Xi to try to ease the new trade war between the two biggest economies in the world.
The conversation between XI and Trump is considered essential to the easing or possible delays in trade tariffs.
Beijing imposed target tariffs on US imports last week, and after Trump imposed a 10% obligation on all imports from China, its measurement response, including Alphabet’s Google, on the possibility of sanctions. I have deployed that company.
Washington and Beijing have developed tense relationships over the years, ranging from trade tariffs and cybersecurity to Taiwan, Hong Kong, human rights and the origins of Covid-19.
Trump and Xi spoke just before Trump took office in January, discussing issues such as Tiktok, trade and Taiwan.
