The Ukrainian order denies its forces are at risk of being surrounded by Russian troops and North Korean allies. The Ukrainian military has been in the backfoot since Trump first ended shipments of weapons, and has since stopped sharing intelligence news to pressure Ukraine to agree to peace talks. U.S. aid was then restored.
“The report of the ‘siege’ of Ukrainian units in the Kursk region by the enemy is not true and is being prepared by the Russians for political purposes and pressure on Ukraine and their partners,” Ukrainian Army General Staff said in a statement. Combat operations in the “Kursk” group’s control zone continue,” it said.
“The Ukrainian Defence Forces forces have been reorganized and retreated to a more advantageous line of defense, and are performing the tasks assigned to them in the territory of the Kursk region,” the general staff added.
Three soldiers fighting in the Kursk region have said Trump’s claims are not true so far, but the situation for the Ukrainian military is not easy.
“The Russians still were unable to bring our troops into a completely operational strategic siege,” Artem Kariakin, a soldier stationed in the area, told Politico. This is not permitted as most troops managed to withdraw under the threat of the situation. ”
“The big problem is that there is a huge concentration of all sorts of Russian drones on this zone, so logistics are still affected, but I’m leaving this zone and going in for work every day,” Kaliakin said.
