President Donald Trump expressed optimism about a potential ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia after receiving an hour-long “very good” call with Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky.
“Most of the debate was based on a call with President Putin yesterday, to coordinate both Russia and Ukraine in terms of demand and needs,” Trump said in the Society of Truth. “We’re on very well.”
On a read of the call provided by the White House, the two leaders agreed to share defence information.
“President Zelensky called for additional air defense systems to protect his civilians, especially his patriot missile systems. President Trump has agreed to work with him to find out what is available in Europe, particularly in the readings.”

In a call with Putin on Tuesday, the Russian president reportedly agreed to a limited ceasefire focusing on energy facilities and infrastructure. The readout says President Trump explained the details to Zelensky.
Zelenskyy said Wednesday that he supported procedures to reach a partial ceasefire and was ready to implement them.
“We have instructed the team to resolve technical issues related to implementing and expanding partial ceasefires,” Zelenskyy said. “The Ukrainian and American teams are ready to meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days to continue to coordinate their steps towards peace.”
Additionally, President Trump reportedly proposed to run a nuclear power plant in Ukraine.
“American ownership of these plants will provide the best protection for its infrastructure and support for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure,” a read from the White House said.
According to the White House, another issue raised during the call was the suspicion of acquiring Ukrainian children by Russia during the war.
President Trump reportedly “work closely with the parties to help ensure that those children return home safely.”
