On Friday, President Donald Trump said former President Joe Biden has removed access to confidential information by revoking security clearance and stopping daily intelligence briefings.
“Joe Biden does not need to receive access to classified information, Trump said in his post on his true social platform. “Therefore, we quickly revoked Joe Biden’s security clearance and daily. “We’ve stopped intelligence briefings.”
The practical effect of Trump’s claim to cancel Biden’s security clearance is an open question. Former presidents usually do not have security clearances. As presidents, they have access to all sorted information. When they leave the office, they don’t.

However, Trump’s decision to limit access to intelligence briefings came just four years after Biden made the same move against Trump, and he said he was “unstable” around January 6, 2021. “The attack on the US Capitol, citing “What’s the action?”
Trump further argued that Biden set a precedent in 2021 by directing the intelligence reporting community to restrict access to Trump’s national security details after Trump’s discharge from the hospital.
Trump also painted a picture of the Chief’s unforgettable commander who failed to properly protect highly sensitive confidential information, as reported by CNN, but did not accus Biden of the crime.
“HUR’s report revealed that Biden suffered from “poor memories” and that even his “Prime” was unreliable with sensitive information,” Trump wrote.
Trump concluded by saying he prioritizes national security protections, ironically saying, “Joe, you’ve been fired.”
CNN reached out to Biden’s spokesman for comment.
At the time, President Biden banned Trump from receiving the intelligence briefing traditionally given to former presidents, citing concerns over Trump’s actions prior to the Capitol attack, claiming that confidential information was unreliable. .
The move was the first example of the former president being ruled out from receiving an Intelligence Report Briefing. This is given both as courtesy and as a situation in which the sitting president seeks leadership.
The precedent set by Biden means Trump can stop his predecessor’s access to daily intelligence briefings. But Trump is taking it a step further by insisting he wants to cancel Biden’s security clearance.
