Trump vows ‘massive deportations’ from Ohio town if elected
Donald Trump also threatened “massive deportations” in Springfield, Ohio, where he and his allies have criticized the Haitian community in recent days.
“I can tell you this: We’re going to have a massive deportation out of Springfield, Ohio. Massive deportations. We’re going to get these people out of the country,” Trump said.
The Haitians are currently exempt from deportation through Feb. 3, 2026, under Temporary Protected Status from the Department of Homeland Security due to issues in their home country.

Joe Biden will meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House.
The two men are expected to discuss, but not necessarily announce, relaxing restrictions on Ukraine to launch long-range strikes on Russia.
According to a representative, Biden and Starmer posed for a photograph inside the Oval Office before starting talks in the Blue Room with British and US officials.
Before the meeting began, Biden said he did not believe Russian President Putin would win a war with Ukraine. He said he planned to discuss Ukraine, the Middle East, the hostage crisis and the need for a ceasefire, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Pope Francis has criticised the abortion and immigration policies of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, claiming that both candidates are “anti-life”.
Asked about the U.S. presidential election, the Pope told reporters on Friday:
Both those who expel immigrants and those who kill babies are against life.
He also said that turning away immigrants was a “grave” sin and likened abortion to assassination, according to Reuters.
He said Catholics must “choose the lesser evil” at the November polls, but did not provide details.
Who is less evil? That woman or that man? I don’t know. Everyone must think about this and act according to their conscience.
“Not voting is ugly,” he added. “It’s not okay. You have to vote.”

The day so far
Despite efforts by local leaders, Donald Trump continues to demonize the Haitian community in Springfield, Ohio, vowing at a press conference to carry out “massive deportations” from the town if he returns to the White House. He has also defended his ties to conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, whose open displays of racism have upset even some of his most radical allies. Joe Biden said attacks on Haitians have “no place in America” at a White House event celebrating black excellence, and Kamala Harris was heading to Pennsylvania tonight for more campaigning.
Here’s what else happened so far today:
Several Springfield schools were reportedly closed by administrators for a second day in a row after President Trump and his allies spread unproven stories of Haitian immigrants eating pets.
At a rally in Michigan yesterday for Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, people chanted “we don’t eat cats.”
Since the attacks against Haitians began, Haitians have reportedly been threatened and their cars vandalized in Springfield.

Donald Trump’s press conference has come to an end, but before it ended, the former president was prompted to talk about what he would do for California if he won the election.
Trump turned this into a campaign appeal to California voters, who haven’t supported a Republican presidential candidate since George H.W. Bush ran in 1988.
Vote for me, Californians, and I will give you safety. I will give you a great border. And I will give you more water than most people ever have.
It is worth noting that water is a crucial issue for the country’s most populous western state.

Trump was asked again about his relationship with Laura Loomer and what he thinks she brings to his campaign.
Despite Loomer’s history of spreading conspiracy theories about the 9/11 attacks and making racist posts on social media, Trump said:
She brings to us the spirit that a lot of people have. We have very spirited people. And, in all fairness, she doesn’t want to see what’s happened to this country.
