The video presented a computer-generated vision for Trump’s property development plans in Gaza. He said he wanted to “clean out” a population of about 2 million. The proposal, dubbed the “Middle Eastern Riviera” plan, has been criticized as a blueprint for ethnic cleansing.
The footage shows the strip being converted into a Dubai-style resort with skyscrapers and gorgeous yachts. Kids play on the beach when money gets mad when it rains and swirls on the sand.
Trump has been presented as a respected icon in the footage, saying that the US wants to “own” Gaza. A boy walks around with a golden balloon on the president’s head, a towering dictator-style statue of a Trump overlooks the city streets.
Trump’s billionaire supporter, Elon Musk, appears several times, eats flatbread and later dances as dollar bills fall from the sky. Mask Tesla electric vehicles cruise through shiny streets.
The 78-year-old president shared the footage and included the caption, “Gaza 2025… What’s next?” – He faced backlash from social media platforms.
One social user wrote: It really tastes bad! Another wrote: “I hate this. I love the president, but this is horrifying.”
This video may have fallen particularly badly with Trump’s Christian supporters. Several comments refer to idolatry of the golden statue, while others lament the scene showing cards in a nightclub alone with a woman dressed up to the belly dancer as the crowd watches.
“Only one person deserves glory and honor,” another user wrote. “The image is a symbol of the Antichrist. Be humbled by God. Jesus is the king, and he is the only one.” Other users described the video as “disease” and “filth.”
One account named Kainoa P writes: But don’t let it reach your head. God has placed you in that position for your glory, for your glory. ”
It was not immediately clear who made the video, but it had previously been shared online by other accounts not related to the White House. Trump shared it without comment.
