White House Border Border Emperor Tom Homan on Sunday denied a Quid Pro complaint between the Trump administration and New York Mayor Eric Adams, with the Department of Justice filed criminal charges against Adams in exchange for the mayor’s cooperation in immigration. It called for the concept of moving to dismiss. . ”
CNN anchor Dana Bash asked Homan: “It sounds like the DOJ has filed a lawsuit against Adams. “What happened?”
“No, I think that’s ridiculous,” replied Homan, saying the two have been discussing access to Rikers Island prisons for several months.
During a closed door meeting with Homan on Thursday, Adams agreed to allow our Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to operate at Riker.
The two men then sat in an interview with Fox & Friends on Friday. Meanwhile, Homan said, “I was coming to New York City and I had no intention of leaving anything.” “Be in his office, go up his ass,” if the mayor did not follow his commitment.
Homan, who served as Ice director in President Donald Trump’s first administration, said Sunday that his conversation with Adams (former New York Police Captain) was “a police officer to police.”
“I don’t think people are doing anything,” Homan said. “Again, I went there as Ice Director, now the Border Emperor, moving illegal foreign crimes, reducing it in New York City, and working together on how to find the worst. And that’s it. That’s what we talked about: It was a police officer, not a border emperor to the mayor, but a police officer.”
The Justice Department moved to dismiss corruption charges against Adams on Friday after an internal uprising, including a wave of resignation over handling of Adams’ cases.
At least seven DOJ officials have resigned as part of Adams’ Law Saga fallout, including top Manhattan federal prosecutor Daniel R. Sasson. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Emile Bove ordered New York prosecutors to dismiss the charges against Adams, claiming the case hampered Adams’ ability to help the administration tackle illegal immigration.
Sasson, a conservative who had secretary for the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, resigned after a sharp-worded memo to Attorney General Pam Bondy. To Quid Pro Quo, Adams shows that he is in a position to support the department’s enforcement priorities only if the charges are dismissed. ”
Adams, who was elected mayor in 2021 and is due to be re-election in November, was charged with bribery and fraud last year and faced trial in April.
Adams pleaded not guilty, claiming that he was innocent and that the charges were politically motivated. Adams and his lawyer, Alex Spiro, vehemently denied the Quid Pro Quo provided at the January 31 meeting.
