Is the price of Dollar Tree rising?
If you’ve ever resorted to Dollar Trees for budget-friendly discoveries, you might want to stand behind yourself. Shoppers across the country have begun to find tags priced at $1.50 on certain items, and even $1.75. But is this just a test run, a local change, or a new normal change? That’s a big problem right now.
For decades, dollar trees have been stuck in the dollar price range, but in 2021 there was a big shift. The price has now reached $1.25. The company said it was necessary for increased costs, and also introduced higher-priced items ($3-$5) under the “Dollar Tree Plus” section. It appears that another price adjustment is currently in progress.
What’s changed now?
Recently, readers have noticed that certain items are creeping up again. People have discovered that glasses have gone from $1.25 to $1.50, with some aluminum foil products priced at $1.75. Some even noticed that each of the popular 2/$1 cards is marked $1 each. These increases are still inconsistent across locations, which makes customers wonder. Is this a test? Regional shift? Or will all stores eventually see these new prices?
Costs are rising everywhere, and Dollar Tree may be adjusting prices accordingly. But seeing some items constantly increase, it takes a bit of magic. The charm has always been simple. Walk for a few bucks and go out with lots of items. When price tags at $1.50 and $1.75 become more common, it feels like they’re even further apart from what made Dollar Tree special.
You’ll also want to keep an eye on prices at other stores as some competitors may offer better or large deals at the same price. It doesn’t seem official yet, but I can’t help but miss the day when everything was really dollars.
What’s next?
Dollar Tree has not made any official announcements about company-wide price hikes, so for now it’s a waiting situation. Whether this is a small tweak or a sign of a major change, there’s one thing for sure. The days of the “All Dollar” store have been gone for a long time.
If you shop regularly, pay attention to the prices at your local store.
