MACON, Ga. — Fall is fast approaching, which means high school sports are ready to take center stage. Check out the top action from this week below.
Tattnall Softball vs Mount Vernon: Aug. 13
The Trojans fell behind early in Tuesday’s game, falling behind 2-0 at the start of the game.
LSU commit Grady Appling sparked the comeback with a stand-up double, and with Tatnall loading the bases, pitcher Carey Still hit the first of his two home runs of the day, a grand slam, to give the Mustangs a heartbreaking win.
The Trojans hit seven home runs in the afternoon win to move to an unbeaten 5-0 record and will next face East Kaweta on the road on Friday.
First Presbyterian Day School Softball vs. Howard
FPD and Howard were close through the first three innings of Tuesday’s matchup, with the Vikings only leading 2-0 after three innings.
But the momentum didn’t last long, as the Vikings scored 16 runs over the next two innings and then smashed 12 runs in the fifth inning to seal the win.
FPD improves to 4-0 on the season and will face Covenant Academy in their next matchup.
Meanwhile, the Huskies are still looking for their first win of the season and will try to snatch it from Hawkinsville on Wednesday.
