TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Traveling by train is relatively inexpensive. However, as the demand for trains has increased, luxury trains have emerged to offer tourists a once-in-a-lifetime experience. As the name suggests, luxury trains allow tourists to enjoy stunning scenery and relax in luxurious carriages.
Recently, Japan Rail Pass, a Japanese train ticketing service, conducted a study to find the world’s best luxury train journeys. The study looked at and analyzed TripAdvisor reviews, Instagram hashtags, and global search volume to create an index score.
According to the study, Rocky Mountaineer was the top luxury train ride in the world, with 54,029 Instagram hashtags and 368,000 monthly searches.
The Rocky Mountaineer train runs on four routes through British Columbia, Alberta, Colorado and Utah. As the name suggests, the train travels through spectacular mountain scenery.
There are several routes available, including the American Southwest Adventure, which takes in spectacular scenery and historic landmarks, while other trains go to Banff and Jasper.
Coming in second is the Golden Pass Express from Montreux, Switzerland, which connects to the beautiful lakeside town of Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland. The journey starts in beautiful Interlaken and passes through Gstaad, Chateau-d’Oex and Montbovon before continuing to the journey’s final destination, Montreux.
The list also includes three of the UK’s luxury trains: the Venice Simplon Orient Express, the British Pullman and the Royal Scotsman. The Venice Simplon Orient Express is an iconic train that connects London with Venice and other European cities.
