The Bengals lost 34-27 to the Chargers on Sunday night, dropping to 4-7 on the season.
Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN 1530 radio host Tony Pike made a great point in his latest movie breakdown.
Pike took issue with the Bengals not taking a timeout at 2nd-10 with 1:05 left, and the game was tied at 27 points.
Joe Burrow couldn’t connect on a deep pass to Ja’Marr Chase on first down. The Bengals removed Chase from the game on second down, but he was still in the huddle with 12 seconds left on the play clock.
They barely made it to the playoffs, but were not successful. Pike felt he should have called a timeout and regrouped before the second-down play instead of rushing the play without Chase on the field.
The Bengals were forced to punt two plays later, and the Chargers scored the game-winning touchdown with 18 seconds left.
The Bengals continue to struggle in late-game situations, which is a big reason why they are 1-6 in one-score games this season. Check out Pike’s breakdown below.
