It’s Black Friday, but not everyone wants to face crowds at big box stores. That’s why the U.S. Chamber of Commerce created Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to encouraging shoppers to support local businesses during the holiday season.
On Saturday, shoppers are being urged to spend as much of their Christmas shopping budget as possible on small businesses. Here on the Eastern Shore, there are dozens of locally owned shops, from local artist galleries to charming old-fashioned general stores, all eager to help you find the perfect gift. Shopping local not only supports your neighbors and boosts the economy, it also generates important tax revenue for your community. Small businesses are also an important source of local employment.
Cape Charles merchants are launching their Festive Friday series starting tonight, and there’s never been a better time to shop local. From Chincoteague and Pocomoke City to Kipto Peak, we encourage you to support locally-owned businesses this holiday season.
