These awful sourdoughs are another big reason to throw away chocolate chip cookies and jump on the sourdough bread baking trends!
Warm chocolate chip walnut cookies are here!
If you want to leave a sourdough starter at home and bake bread, you should try throwing these despicable sourdough away for dessert. They are easy to bake at home and honestly some of the best cookies I have ever baked! The flavours and textures are the whole event worthy of drooling.
The sourdough discard in the recipe creates a soft center and the outside is completely chewy.
Sourdough discard recipes are popular and for good reason.
It’s a creative way to run out of things that would otherwise be thrown away. Bake sourdough bread regularly can help maintain a sourdough starter. Feeding the starter freshwater and flour usually involves discarding some of them first. Instead of throwing this waste away, store it in a fridge container.
Sourdough starter disposal is maintained in the fridge for up to a month, and disposal seems to add more complex flavors and texture to the baked goods I love!
These “Marry Me” sourdough chocolate chip cookies went viral by Katie George Tiktok. This recipe is adopted from her with some minor changes. Instead of browning the butter, I popped both sticks into both microwaves and added both sugar. I love cookies and walnuts. Add the sea salt flakes after baking and you’ll be thrown on top!

An additional tip for baking this sourdough is to throw away the chocolate chip cookie recipe:
Don’t forget to store these in the fridge for at least 2 hours to cool before baking. Homemade cookie dough is usually properly stored in the fridge for 4-5 days, so this can be prepared in advance as it is properly stored in the fridge in an airtight container. Omit walnuts completely or use a different nut depending on the taste or allergy. Use your favorite type of chocolate chip! We love that Lily’s milk chocolate stevia is sweetened. I think good caramel chips are also paranoid! This created 18 very large size cookies as they scooped out using an ice cream scoop. You can make the dough ball smaller and make more cookies. Reduce the oven time to 10 minutes. I store these at room temperature in covered containers for 3-7 days, but they don’t last very long! Ha
Discard this sourdough and make a chocolate chip cookie recipe as soon as possible!
If you need another reason to start making sourdough bread, these cookies are it! Keep in mind that they make great gifts to share with friends and family. I stuffed my mom a batch for her birthday and loved her!
Next I’d like to try the sourdough oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! I’ve heard they’re also incredibly good.
Bonus Heart-shaped cookie chips! ❤❤️🍪
Shape the cookies into a V-layer as mentioned above and bake them into heart-shaped cookies. I used a small cookie scoop to make the two tube shapes the same size and joined them to the ends, and was excited by this result! This is a very cute cookie hack.
I have tried this hack using the same sourdough cookie dough and I think it can work with my favorite cookie recipes too. Make sure the dough is cooled first! Once you’ve left the oven and are still soft, try using a butter knife to gently straighten the edge points.
