The saying goes: go bold or go home, and California-based boutique trailer shop Living Vehicle wants the opportunity to prove that you can go bold and go home, too.
The home, obviously, is towable: Living Vehicle’s first fifth-wheel trailer. The small business has been making trailers since 2017 after first dabbling in the RV market with conversions. Living Vehicle trailers quickly set themselves apart with their focus on sustainability, and have since evolved into full off-grid autonomy and luxury.
Earlier this week, LV unveiled its first-ever fifth-wheel truck line, the GT Series. Comprised of just two models for the time being, the GT Series aims to combine the distinctive aesthetic and off-grid “fierceness” of previous LV models with incredible luxury features and absolute comfort.
The GT39 is the flagship, and LV describes it as “the pinnacle of luxury travel.” In fact, you could describe every other LV trailer that way, but the GT39 goes a step further with full autonomy, a superyacht-like interior packed with functionality thanks to modular spaces, and all the comforts of a proper home, especially if yours is a million-dollar mansion.

Measuring 39 feet (11.9 meters) in length and based on a triple-axle trailer chassis, the GT39 features a luxurious yet highly functional interior layout with the main bedroom located in the gooseneck section and can accommodate up to four people.
You won’t have to couch surf or squeeze into any available space and feel like an unwelcome guest either. LV’s GT39 comes equipped with a living room sofa that converts into a queen bed, with the option to add a drop-down bed above it. Maximum sleeping capacity in the GT39 is six.
But the standard GT39 is the most luxurious land yacht for an adventurous couple, and as such, it also works well as a permanent residence while sailing. The living area has eight-foot (2.5-meter) high ceilings, giving you plenty of space to move around. The kitchen is a chef’s unit and comes equipped with all the appliances you’ll need. The bathroom is spa-like, with a sit-down shower, but with resource-saving features and maximum functionality, as evidenced by the integrated laundry station.

The generous square footage also allows for the addition of other features that you wouldn’t expect in a mobile home but have come to consider standard in modern homes, meaning the GT39 is packed with a terrace that can be used for anything from a home office or outdoor kitchen to a yoga studio or dining space, and a dinette that can double as a lounge (with fireplace) or entertainment area.
Previous LV trailers have also featured big screen TVs and smart home features to monitor resource consumption and maximize usability, so the GT39 will likely have those, too. Another LV staple is the water generator that creates five gallons (19 liters) of water “out of thin air” per day. This works in conjunction with an impressive solar array to make these towed vehicles self-sufficient, which will likely be on the GT39 as well.
Speaking of off-grid autonomy, that’s the guiding principle behind every LV trailer. The company’s founders, Matthew and Joanna Hoffman, believe that sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into everyday life, and moreover, that it can be achieved with minimal compromise to comfort. From this idea, LV Trailers has evolved to turn “comfort” into luxury. The GT39 is their latest and greatest achievement in this sense.

The GT39 is equipped with solar panels on the roof and folding awning with a capacity of up to 5KW, combined with a 72kWh battery. Other features include hybrid backup power generation, four-season climate control, Starlink internet, and smart home technology. At the time of writing, few details about the new model have yet been revealed, but previous LV models have been equipped with water-saving and energy-saving features, along with a water-making and water-filtration system, and the ability to go off the grid “indefinitely.”
The Living Vehicle GT39, “a meticulously crafted mobile estate designed for those who seek comfort and durability for life on the road,” is available to pre-order now, with pricing available on request. From what we understand, the company has a completed unit of the smaller GT32 on display, but it looks like the GT39 will only exist in the virtual world for the time being.

That may change soon. LV is working on a limited run of each model, with build slots selling out well in advance. In other words, details and pricing information may be available soon, but be prepared for prices consistent with the descriptions above. For reference, the shorter, less luxurious 2024 LV HD units, at 30 or 20 feet (9 or 6 meters) tall, start at $359,995.
With so much emphasis placed on the luxury and one-of-a-kind nature of this fifth wheel trailer, you really couldn’t ask for more.
