Van camping is the perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. One of the main reasons people love traveling and living in campers is the freedom this lifestyle offers. Whether you’re looking for weekend adventures, boondocking, outdoor exploration or sporting adventures, a camper makes a great base camp on wheels.
As van life grows in popularity, many enthusiastic van modders have emerged, producing a number of incredible custom builds that can also function as tiny homes. Today we’ll be looking at an incredible campervan that a talented Canadian team has built for year-round adventures.
Based on a 2022 Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 van, this mobile micro-home is the work of Outdoor Thrills Van Co., a Whistler, British Columbia-based startup. The outfitter specializes in custom van conversions designed with highly functional and stylish interiors to make you feel at home no matter where your adventure takes you. The team has over 10 years of experience in the construction industry and are lifelong van dwellers. Having experienced firsthand the beauty and freedom of the outdoor lifestyle, they know what a mobile home can be.
This Sprinter camper is one of the most complete offerings to date, boasting an understated exterior that allows owners to enjoy stealth camping and a brilliantly designed interior that offers all the comforts of home. Completed in 2023, it is based on a medium wheelbase van, but still provides plenty of space to live, work and play, while also ensuring maximum comfort and convenience for one or two travelers.

Open the side doors and you’ll find a mobile living space that’s both luxurious and functional. The van’s interior has an open-plan layout, with no clear separation between the driver’s seat and the actual living space in the back, and the passenger seat is mounted on a swivel seat base.
The designers made the most of the available space inside the van. They wanted to create two zones – a kitchen/bathroom at the front and a lounge/bedroom at the back – without making the space feel cramped, and they achieved this by creating a stunning slatted arch that not only creates a sense of separation but also acts as a beautiful decorative element.
In terms of styling, the interior features a nature-inspired design that brings to the van the calm and relaxation of a quiet forest. With slate-finished red oak ceilings, chic maple plywood cabinetry painted a beautiful Vogue Green, gorgeous raw-edge countertops and soft plum-colored upholstery in the lounge area, the living spaces strike the perfect balance between warmth and luxury.

Compact yet functional, the galley kitchen is comprised of two custom cabinets, one on each side of the van, and impresses with its elegance. The green cabinets blend beautifully with the raw edge counters and glossy tiled backsplash, while sliding doors and large windows allow natural light to pour in. Functionally, it offers ample storage space, an 1800W portable induction cooktop, sink and a Dometic CRX-65 fridge/freezer.
Due to obvious space limitations, the van doesn’t have a full bathroom, but hygiene on the road has been considered, with the designers cleverly incorporating a pop-up underfloor shower powered by a Bosch electric hot water heater and 20-gallon water tank. A composting toilet tucked into the storage space completes the bathroom amenities.
At the rear of the van you’ll find a spacious dinette with two facing benches with integrated storage and a large Lagun table – the perfect setting to dine, relax, catch up with friends or even work whilst enjoying your surroundings. For sleeping space, the van comes equipped with a queen size Happijac electric bed lift, perfect if you want to maximise your living space without sacrificing comfort.

Meticulously designed to inspire your sense of adventure and make you want to get behind the wheel and enjoy the open road, this campervan offers a fresh and inviting mobile living space with all the amenities you need for a stress-free vanlife experience, as well as a fully functional off-grid electrical system tailored to the nomadic lifestyle.
Whether you use your camper for a weekend getaway or a longer adventure, a reliable and efficient electrical system brings convenience, peace of mind and endless possibilities to your trip. This Sprinter-based conversion relies on solar power and is equipped with three 100W Renogy solar panels on the roof and three 100Ah Renogy Lithium batteries, paired with a 3000W Renogy Inverter Charger and a 40a Renogy Solar Controller.
Plus, it’s fully insulated with Havelock wool and fitted with an Espar diesel heater to keep you warm whatever the weather, allowing owners to enjoy the beauty of nature no matter the season.
Because this is a custom build, pricing details are unavailable. Because each van conversion produced by Outdoor Thrills Van Co’s shop is unique, the final price is determined by the client’s vision and is influenced by factors such as the size of the van, the complexity of the build, and the materials and finishes used.
