ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) — Surveillance cameras at Sun Bliss Cafe in Anaheim Hills captured thieves using what appeared to be a saw gun to smash the business’s front door just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.
“These people are professionals. I’ve never seen anything like this,” owner Taniya Ahmed said.
The masked suspects targeted the cash register but fled within minutes with an undisclosed amount of cash and other items.
“Though nothing like this has ever happened before, it is our understanding within the community that this is something that happens continually,” Ahmed said.
Sara Nepple, operations manager at Saint Bliss, added that she was a little shaken up but grateful to the community.
“Our regular customers are very supportive, reassuring and give us feedback.”
The cafe was one of three businesses robbed in the shopping center near Weir Canyon Road and Serrano Avenue. The suspects broke the glass in each business’ entrance.
“It has a deep impact on our hearts and our coffers,” Ahmed said.
Sunbris said the break-in was unfortunate, but it will not stop the company from serving the community.
“We actually wanted to open right away because we had customers coming right away, but of course we wanted to make sure everything was safe before we let customers in,” Nepple said.
Ahmed said there is no time to get emotional about the situation.
“You check your email, get dressed, run out the door, get here, answer questions and just move on,” Ahmed said. “As a business owner, you don’t have time… you don’t have time to really react or feel. You just have to get to work, clean up the mess and open the doors for your customers.”
Anaheim police are investigating the robbery.
Meanwhile, Sun Bliss is trying to turn this terrible situation into a positive: They’re holding a doorbuster sale until the doors are replaced.
