The thief ambushed a Diamond District worker outside his gorgeous watch store and stood up with a $10,000 Rolex, officers said.
The unidentified man followed an unusual time on the pavement outside the shop at a 5th Avenue store near West 48th Avenue around 5pm Tuesday and snatched a grey bag containing two Rolex watches, officers said.
The 22-year-old employee chased the robber onto West 49th Avenue and retrieved his bag. One Rolex has gone missing, a police source told the Post.
During the brawl, he pleaded with workers saying, “Give me $500 or $1,000 — you guys won’t help me,” the source continued.
Surveillance footage released by officers on Saturday shows a suspect in the store before the robbery walking past a jewel case wearing a black and green North Face jacket.
The victim was not injured. No arrests have been made yet.
